Historic Northwoods Doraville

The 1950’s and 1950’s saw some interesting architecture, and if you are a lover of the contemporary style of the 60’s style ranch, then you need to see Historic Northwoods Doraville. This quiet, wooded neighborhood is located just inside I-285 and hidden off Buford Highway. The neighborhood was just nominated to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was one of the first planned unit developments (PUD) in the entire state of Georgia when construction started in the late 1950’s.

The neighborhood saw a dramatic decline in home prices (where have you not?)  with the 2009 market crash, but prices have rebounded to almost pre-crash prices. There is a strong neighborhood social group, a neighborhood watch program AND the Citizens For Progress group that is watching over the City Council and Mayor as the residents work to change the image of Doraville.

But the location is incredible! You can be at the Perimeter (Sandy Springs) in 10-15 minutes, Midtown or Downtown can take 15-20, but if a traffic problem comes up, plan on 30 minutes. But that beats the heck out of the HOUR and 30 minutes from Gwinnett!

The homes have incredible potential for renovations, and you are in a great neighborhood with the Doraville Police Department!  Think doing a home all IKEA and you get the idea!

If you’d like to see all that Northwoods has to offer, and the great location, just give me a call.
