SLS Atlanta Hotel Residences Moves Forward

September 16, 2016 by Thom Abbott

The possibility of another Midtown Atlanta corner changing appears to be one step closer as the SLS Atlanta Hotel Residences moves forward.

Trillist (the developer of Yoo On The Park apartments) appeared before the Midtown Alliance Design Review Committee (DRC) this past week. This was a follow-up presentation to a previous visit.

The building will be located at the corner of 13th and Cypress Streets. NO, NOT the parking lot next to Opera Nightclub, but the low-rise apartment building across the street? I guess we can say Bye Bye! And she will be a skyscraper with a proposed 43-story tower that will contain 214 hotel rooms and 66 condominiums, along with 12 levels of podium parking. (Yes, we still need those garages!!!)

Cypress 13th Street SLS Atlanta

It’s probably pretty safe to say that the condominiums will be on the upper end of the market price! But this will certainly be an exciting addition the area. 60 11th Street apartments recently opened as part of the 12 & Midtown development, and a new dual branded Marriott Hotel product is scheduled to go up on 14th Street between the Four Seasons and the Marriott Suites Hotel.

Depending on how quickly this project moves forward, me may soon see another “Midtown Bird a.k.a. a construction crane” on the skyline.

We will keep you posted on this one!

Honeywell Home & Business Technologies HQ to Midtown Atlanta

September 12, 2016 by Thom Abbott

midtown atlanta skyline Bank of AmericaWe are always excited when we hear of new corporate relocations to Midtown Atlanta. And the announcement that Honeywell is bringing their Home & Business Technologies HQ to Midtown is no exception!!!

Honeywell Home & Business Technologies HQ to Midtown Atlanta

Honeywell International announced on Monday that it’s Home & Business Technologies headquarters will move from Morris Plains, NJ, to Midtown Atlanta. The move, coupled with a “first-of-a-kind North American software development center,” will create about 800 jobs in Midtown Atlanta!

Midtown’s Bank of America building is said to be a favorite to land the project. As the Midtown center grows, they will develop aerospace, automation and control solutions software. (The Bank of America Building is the tall building in the center of the photo on the right!)

As these employees look to relocate from New Jersey to Atlanta, we are excited to help them find opportunities in Midtown Atlanta, and the surrounding communities. Midtown Atlanta is one of the most walkable locations to live in Atlanta! Honeywell employees will have numerous condominium and apartment buildings to choose from. Looking for a single family home? From Midtown, to Buckhead, Druid Hills, Brookhaven, or Chamblee..there are lots of choices.

If looking to be near MARTA transit, which the North Avenue station is just across the street from the B of A Building, then Buckhead, Brookhaven, Chamblee and Doraville are all great options to consider, depending on price, size and style of home you are looking for!

This is also great news for the Bank of America Building which has some empty floors to fill up!

August 31, 2016 by Thom Abbott

Old Fourth Ward Fall Festival September 9-10, 2016

Old Fourth Ward Fall Festival If you have not experienced the Lantern Parade, then you MUST put the Old Fourth Ward Fall Festival on your calendar….NOW! (RIGHT NOW…. We’ll wait for you!)

Friday evening, and Saturday, September 9-10 is the Festival! There are workshops to make lanterns both Friday and Saturday, prior to the Lantern Parade on Saturday evening!

This is the second annual festival, which is a free, two day VERY family friendly event with live music, food trucks, lantern making workshops hosted by local artists, a business marketplace and of course, The Lantern Parade!!!!

The festival is held along the Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail which runs between and connects Midtown, Poncey-Highland, Historic Fourth Ward and Inman Park. Speaking from experience, parking is c-c-crazy and you will want to look for private lots or public parking areas. Click HERE for an Access Map to the Atlanta Beltline.

At the festival you will find portable toilets, concessions from local vendors, trash and recycling stations, ATM’s (IT’S ALL CASH AT THE FESTIVAL!!!) and lots of food and beverages.

To learn more about the Old Fourth Ward Fall Festival, you can find them on Facebook or at the Festival Website.

Looking forward to seeing you on the Beltline!!!

NCR Announces Phase II of Midtown Project

August 11, 2016 by Thom Abbott

NCR Headquarters Midtown Atlanta
Phase II on the Left

Construction is well underway on the new NCR headquarters building in Midtown Atlanta. I recall attending their presentation of this building, and that Phase II was further down the road. The space where Phase II was slated to go would be a possible temporary park/greenspace.

Ahhhhh…fast forward from July 2015 (when the project was presented to the Design Review Committee (DRC) of the Midtown Alliance) to August, 2016. And Phase II is announced!!! (So much for that green space….) The new building will add some 240,000 plus square feet of office space along with 10,000 sq.ft. of retail and parking for 515 cars. (we’s got have that garage!)

The renderings make it hard to figure the number of stories, but the first phase tower will be 20 stories. Maybe this one will be 10? It does however add more excitement in the form of retail to Spring Street and the surrounding area.

Here is a photo of the site before construction began. We’ll be sure to post some more in the near future as this great addition to Midtown Atlanta progresses!!

Apogee Midtown

August 4, 2016 by Thom Abbott

Another residential tower is on the rise in Midtown Atlanta…and a “tower” it will be at 39 stories! And it now has a name!

Apogee Midtown

The vacant corner at 14th and West Peachtree (and including up to Spring Street) has long been surface parking lots, as pictured here.

Apogee Midtown Apartment Building

(These photos were taken in July, 2014)

It was first reported back in May, 2014 that The Related Group from Miami had the 2.2 acre site under contract. The complete development calls for two phases, and the first phase, now under construction will be some 39 stories tall with 390-400 residences, with the interior of Apogee Midtown bening designed by Michael Habachy of Habachy Designs.

Another exciting exterior element of the building will be a 95′  by 63′ mural on the building, also by a local artist, HENSE (Alex Brewer) At a prime corner like 14th and West Peachtree, this will be a building that will sure to be noticed!~

Announced back in 2015, the other awesome part of the building will be a flagship Whole Foods Market, which may occupy as much as 60,000 sq.ft. and be the largest store for the organic food supermarket chain in the metro Atlanta area. Plans are calling for a 2018 opening!

We will keep you updated with more information about this exciting Midtown Atlanta project. Below, you will find a contact form if you’d like us to keep you updated as we get more information such as floor plans, pricing and occupancy dates.

And check out the video below about this exciting company, Related Group.
