Classic Car Commercials — Welcome Home

Classic Car Commercials — Welcome Home!

The holidays are all about family. My trips home to Montana now fall in the late Springtime so I don’t have to endure a week of freezing cold weather with nothing to do! (Skiing has long been removed from my list of activities!)

But there is something about coming home.

Forewarned is forearmed…have some tissues handy for this Classic Car Commercial that aired in 2004!

Classic Car Commercials — The Maverick Grabber

December 8, 2012 by Thom Abbott

Classic Car Commercials

When I was in high school, during lunch breaks I use to walk downtown in my home town of Livingston and walk through the Ford garage. I’d first check out the showroom, and then I go right back in the garage and walk around it’s U-shape design. I can remember finding some of the new models tucked back in the corner of the garage, just waiting to be “introduced” instead of being out on the lot!

I can remember the Ford Maverick. I remember my Dad drove a military car home once and it was a Ford Maverick. And what a hoot…one of the commericals I saw listed the price at $1995 for a Maverick. You’d probably pay about $5-8,000 for one now!

Enjoy!

Classic Car Commercials — Improved Engineering Does Wonders!

Classic Car Commercials — A Trip Down Memory Lane

As “engineering” improved, so did the amazing features on cars. Of course some of those features, came, went, and have since returned.

Tonight’s DOUBLE FEATURE first features a unique option on the Ford Fairlane.

The second feature shows how engineering has a way of, well re-engineering itself!

Classic Car Commercials – A Trip Down Memory Lane

Classic Car Commercials – A Trip Down Memory Lane

One thing I’ve learned since I started blogging, was that people should get to know who you are. It’s one of the great things about blogging and the other social media channels we have today. People can know more about you (or as little as you want them to) before you ever meet IRL (In Real Life) or before they decide to work with you, in my case, as their real estate broker.

Classic Car Commercials

So, on that personal note, since I was a little kid, I’ve always loved cars. If money were no object, I’d need a 20+ car garage to keep not only classics, but just cars I would want to drive. So, I recently stumbled across classic car commercials on YouTube. Some of them I specifically remember, others I don’t. But the cars, ah, those I remember. (well, depending on the year of the car!)

So, I’ll be doing a series of blogs on car commercials. I hope they bring back memories for you just like they have for me.

Today’s example…the ever beautiful Ford LTD Country Squire Station Wagon! The station wagon WAS the family automobile till we invented the Sport Utility Vehicle.

Check out this 1973 beauty….

Classic Car Commercials – The Landau Vinyl Roof

On my continued quest for the ever interesting commericals, I had to laugh at this one. The landau vinyl roof at no extra charge! And you could get white wall tires. Remember white walls? I do still have them on my ’69 Buick, but they are pretty much a thing of the past.

Enjoy!

$1.1B bus proposal called ‘pipe dream’

September 13, 2012 by Thom Abbott

As a side note to this article, I attended a real estate broker event at Soleil Laurel Canyon in I guess Kennesaw? It was off of EXIT 20 off of I-575.. I clocked it at 44.1 miles from 14th Street in Midtown. I’ll be doing a post about it later this week!

As I sat there and looked at the people that live there (it’s an adult active community…you have to be 55+ to live there) I thought, do these people, who vote, even have a concept of what it’s like to deal with traffic, on the Downtown Connector everyday? It made me quickly see how getting a regional transportation system in place in Metro Atlanta is like moving a mountain, and then some. Hence my photo below of an old, old bus. Because by the time we do something about our transportation issues in this city….we’ll probably be using old buses.

MARIETTA — After reviewing the findings of the $1.8 million Northwest Corridor Alternatives Analysis study, which calls for a $1.1 billion bus system from Kennesaw State University to Midtown Atlanta, Southeast Commissioner Bob Ott called it “a pipe dream.”

The proposal recommends a $1.1 billion bus system stretching 29 miles from KSU to the MARTA Arts Center Station in Midtown. There are also routes that come off that main line that serve Acworth, Kennesaw, Marietta, Smyrna and the Cumberland Community Improvement District, said Faye DiMassimo, director of the Cobb Department of Transportation, who along with Jim Croy, whose firm conducted the study, made their presentation to the Board of Commissioners on Tuesday.
