Piedmont Park Arts Festival August 13-14, 2016

July 25, 2016 by Thom Abbott

Piedmont Park Arts Festival August 13-14Atlanta loves an arts festival! So head on over to Piedmont Park and join MyMidtownMojo.com for the 8th Annual Piedmont Park Arts Festival, August 13-14, 2016.

The festival runs Saturday from 10AM – 5PM and on Sunday from 11AM – 5PM! Now it’s August, so bring some sunscreen and lots of water! There will be festival foods so you can get beverages there too!

This Summer arts and crafts festival will feature some 250 painters, photographers, sculptors, leather and metal works and more. There will be artists demonstrations as well.

This festival is organized by the Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces. They also do other events like the Chastain Park Arts Festival in the fall.

We look forward to seeing you there! You might also make a day of it and check out one of Midtown Atlanta’s many restaurants! Close to the park, there is Henry’s, 10th and Piedmont, and The Nook…just to name a few!

Old Fourth Ward Arts Festival June 25-26, 2016

June 15, 2016 by Thom Abbott

Old Fourth Ward Arts Festival June 25-16, 2016

Old Fourth Ward Park Arts FestivalThe Atlanta Foundation for the Public Spaces is proud to announce the 4th Annual Old Fourth Ward Arts Festival coming up June 25th and 26th in Atlanta, Georgia.

Named “Best New Event” by the Southeast Festivals and Events Association, this two-day arts festival has become the perfect celebration of the artistic innovation that the Old Fourth Ward Neighborhood embodies. Visitors will enjoy art from up to 150 local and regional artists carefully chosen to reflect this historic but progressive neighborhood.

Along with the fine arts and crafts there will be a children’s play area, local food and beverage concessions and live acoustic entertainment. Best of all, it’s entirely free! Historic Fourth Ward Park is just off North Avenue, across from the Ponce City Market. Grab your walking shoes, bike or rollerblades and take the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail to the park! Cyclists can also store their bikes in the additional bike racks provided by the festival.

Of course, the all new and great Ponce City Market is located adjacent to the Old Fourth Ward Park and is a great place for additional dining options, as well as shopping.

For more information about the festival, please visit oldfourthwardartsfestival.com.

Reasons to Live In Midtown Atlanta Contest

June 5, 2016 by Thom Abbott

This month, I start a new series of posts here at MyMidtownMojo, entitled Reasons To Live In Midtown Atlanta.

Contest for Reasons to Live in Midtown AtlantaThink about where you live (in case you don’t live in Midtown!)and what you like about it. Well, wouldn’t you want to tell people about it? That’s what I thought! So, I will be in search of Reasons To Live In Midtown Atlanta….and I’ll be looking for some help! More on that in a moment!

MyMidtownMojo already has a big focus on the PLACES to live in Midtown Atlanta, but we know there is much more to what makes Midtown Atlanta…well….Midtown Atlanta!

And I want YOU to help! Maybe you know some little treasure, tucked away in a corner of Midtown that makes it special. Well, I’d like to share it here at MyMidtownMojo.

Send in your suggestions! Your name will be entered into a weekly drawing for a $10 Gift Card from Gordon Biersch Restaurant in Midtown!

Ah yes, a contest would not be a contest without rules….and so here are a couple:

  • Your Reason To Live Suggestion Must BE in Midtown Atlanta. (See the map below that outlines the Midtown Atlanta boundary as well as Midtown West, which we will include in this contest
  • Give us the Name of the Place, website address (if they have one) and where it is located (It can be anything but a place to live!)
  • Your Name, email address and phone number (No, we won’t be selling it to the local Avon Lady!)
  • A brief description of why you think this place is a Reason To Live In Midtown
  • Contest Runs from March 1 -31, 2013

Your suggestions will be featured on future posts here at MyMidtownMojo and we’ll be sure to give you a shout out for your suggestion!

Pass this along to your friends….let me be overwhelmed with things to post about  Reasons To Live In Midtown Atlanta!

UrbanFronts Galleries Come to Midtown Atlanta

September 27, 2015 by Thom Abbott

When you have empty retail space (ok, that in itself is depressing to have in Midtown…but….) you at least become creative and put temporary things in the space to create visual appeal. Much better than looking at an empty space, right?

Midtown Alliance and The American Institute of Architects have partnered up to create UrbanFronts. As you are out for a walk to or from your office or condo, take a look at these displays.

It appears that the 800 block of Peachtree Street has some excessive open retail space! Always wonder what the benefit is to the landlord/property owner to leave these spaces empty?

We’ve yet to visit them, so we’ll get some photos up as soon as we do!

Buckhead’s Establishment to Re-establish at Colony Square!

July 28, 2015 by Thom Abbott

Establishment Midtown July 28, 2015It looks like another Buckhead favorite wants to join the excitement of Midtown Atlanta!

Establishment of Buckhead will soon be Establishment Midtown and call Colony Square home! I have to say I never visited this watering hole while it was in Buckhead, but it looks to have a pretty cool vibe going on! I can see it being an awesome place for one of the after parties for the Atlanta Film Festival, who’s 40th Anniversary is in 2016!!

Keep an eye out for more news of the opening of Establishement Midtown and some follow up photos from MyMidtownMojo.com
