This post does not really need much narrative with it. 210,000 gallons of oil pumping into the ocean daily. A mess of epic proportions. The wildlife, sea life and the economies of beachfront communities will feel this for months to come, if not years!

City in the Arboretum Conference
An arboretum (pl: arboreta) is a collection of trees and other mostly woody plants that are cultivated for display, educational, and scientific purposes. Typically, an arboretum is located in a garden- or park-like setting.
If you are a nature lover, and especially love trees, then this might be just the event for you. Trees Atlanta presents the 2010 City in the Arboretum Conference, May 22 from 8:30am to 2:00pm.

The event will take place at Trees Atlanta Kendeda Center, located at 255 Chester Avenue, Atlanta, 30316.

GM Celebrates 75 Years of the Suburban
Ok. I’ll be the first to admit it. Huge. Gas Hog. Over the top? Probably all of these, but if money was no object, it would probably be one of the first things I would buy. Either that or order my custom Prevost Motor Coach. Neither of which has a very small carbon footprint. Oh well.
The Chevrolet Suburban is the longest continuously produced vehicle in America. It first started production in 1934 and as you can see from the picture, compliments of the Chevrolet Suburban website, “she’s come a long way baby!” They have also become the vehicle of choice for families, Secret Service and ranchers. In fact, my Dad had on older version of the Suburban…I often nicknamed it the State Vehicle of Montana….EVERYONE seemed to have one!
On Monday, GM also debuted the new 75th Anniversary Diamond Edition Suburban, which will be available this summer. Only 2,750 will be made. While a Suburban is probably NOT a collector car, I bet a few of them will get snapped up and tucked away for a future Barrett-Jackson auction.
In Midtown Atlanta, the Suburban is often seen in use by limo companies instead of a Lincoln Town Car or Cadillac. But for showing condominium homes, they can be a squeeze to get into some places.
Guess I’ll stick with my little guy for now! Happy Birthday Chevy Suburban! You look darn good for 75!!

Do I Make You Proud?
I’ve been an animal lover all my life. I moved to a ranch when I was 5 years old, and lived there till I was 17 and went away to college. During that time, we had horses, a couple calves, and mostly Suffolk sheep that we raised. I was involved in 4-H during my high school years, and always raised a lamb as my project, to be sold at auction at the County Fair. Sometimes I cried, sometimes I did not, depending on the bond I had made with my animal.
But we all know the bond we have with an animal we call a pet. I have to relate those bonds to dogs and cats, but I suspect, and know, they can go to hamsters to ferrets and beyond.
But it truly is the unconditional love, understanding and “support” that these creatures offer to us that make them truly special. I lost my beloved Greyhound Nero 3 years and 8 months ago. To this day I can still drop a bucket of tears if I really want to. I will NEVER be able to replace him, but to have another companion like him is something I truly desire. And when the time is right…..
Today on Facebook, someone posted a video that once again cemented the belief we all have in animals (pets) and the unconditional love they offer us. And so, I share that video will make you think!
