Happy New Year Active Rain! Happy New Year Everyone!

December 31, 2010 by Thom Abbott

Happy New Year!!!

This evening, we will all
do different things, at different places, in different ways.

You may choose to enjoy
the quiet of your home with just family, or maybe a few close friends.

You may choose to dine in
a fine restaurant and toast in the New Year with friends, or other
guests you may not even know.

You may choose to be in
that wild and crazy night club and dance your way into the New Year
(I’ll be in between these two)

No matter what way you
choose, everyone stops, be it in the quiet of the home, or the
craziness of a club, to reflect.

It’s our nature.

Some will have great
fortune to reflect upon, and others will not.

But one of the great
things about the human spirit, and us humans in general, we have the
great ability to hit a “restart” button.

And look to the New Year
and the future.

For many of us in the
chosen profession of  real estate, it’s be a year of rough
roads and rough times.

But, we look to the New
Year with resolve and determination that we will make it.

So, as you and I send out
2010, and Welcome in 2011, just remember the Climb!
It will be worth it all!

Fall Friday Lunches In Midtown Atlanta From Midtown Alliance

September 22, 2010 by Thom Abbott

Fall Friday Lunches In Midtown Atlanta From Midtown Alliance

Like we need a reason to get out of our office or condo in Midtown Atlanta!

CakeYou might recall we had a lunch program this year, but it was located at the new Plaza at 15th Street. Of course, summer in Atlanta is NOT the time you really want to be out of your office. I certainly stay in unless I’m showing a Buyer a great condo deal in Midtown Atlanta.
Well, Fall is officially upon us, so we are hoping for cooler temps during the day….but that will probably be a couple more weeks.  But it is a good time to get out, and the Fall Friday Lunches In Midtown Atlanta. These are being held at the Bank Of America Plaza on North Avenue and Peachtree Streets.
I’m going to try and make this week…Hope to see you there!
Sponsored by Arborguard Tree Specialists
Bank of America Plaza (North Ave & Peachtree), 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
September 24:
Lunch provided by TAP
Live music by Jay Memory

High Five From Atlanta Intown Newspaper

August 27, 2010 by Thom Abbott

High Five From Atlanta Intown Newspaper!

I’ve got creative ideas, don’t even THINK for a minute I don’t!!!! It’s the time to make them all happen that always gets me!

So when somebody does it right, I say, “Hey, I’ll just pass that along!” And so here it is….

High Five Atlanta Intown NewspaperAtlanta Intown Newspaper has now started a weekly column, “High Five” What to Do This Weekend.” They will feature five events going on in the Intown Atlanta neighborhoods I do so love to hang out in.

Here is a link to this week’s High Five, which features:

  • Tears For Fears Concert at Chastain Park
  • German Bierfest at Woodruff Park
  • Morningside Summer Block Party (looking like my Favorite pick)
  • Festival Peachtree Latino at Underground Atlanta
  • Grant Park Summer Shade Festival

There are links to each of these events in the Atlanta Intown article!

Hope I see you out and about this weekend!

Viewpoint Midtown Atlanta. Going, Going, Almost!

August 21, 2010 by Thom Abbott

Viewpoint Midtown Atlanta. Going, Going, Almost!

Viewpoint Midtown Atlanta Ribbon CuttingIf you know me, you know I’ve had a long standing love affair with Viewpoint Midtown since the building first opened in June, 2007.  Heck, it was even my clients, Don Jones and Peggy Denby that cut the ribbon for the grand opening event!

So, it’s also no surprise that this Midtown community is close to being gone! I mean, I can probably count on two hands the number of 2 bedroom homes that remain! What does that mean for you the Midtown Atlanta condo shopper? Well, you don’t have much left to choose from (I still have not seen a bad floor plan –the 11th floor home they have is like living in a garden since it looks out ON the unique Zen Garden of the 11th floor) and there are some great prices to be had!

With interest rates at an all time, maybe never again in our lifetime low, if you are thinking about that condo purchase, now just could be the time to act!  Also, if you perfer new construction over a re-sale condo, the options are getting pretty limited! I’d love to represent you in your Viewpoint Midtown Atlanta purchase! Just give me a call and lets get over to see everything Viewpoint Midtown has to offer you!

The Eagles Land In Piedmont Park October 15!

July 29, 2010 by Thom Abbott

Eagles Land in Piedmont Park October 15 for The Green Concert!

You heard it hear first. Well, maybe not first. Maybe second.

But the rumor is over, and yes, The Eagles will perform in Piedmont Park on October 15th. The concert, the third to be help by the Piedmont Park Conservancy, is to raise money to continue to maintain the park and the completion of the new 53-acre expansion.

Needless to say, these concerts cause quite a stir here in Midtown Atlanta, especially for those residents who live closest to the park, in Historic Midtown. While the concert is promoted as a “green event” and the use of public transportation (i.e. MARTA) is strongly encouraged, people from the Metro Atlanta area will brave the freeways, and then clog the surrounding streets as they look for a place to park their Suburbans and Mini Vans. (Ok, there will be Toyota’s and Honda’s too…)

I’ve never attended one of these events, just because of the sheer crowds it brings, and then you are so far from the stage that is looks like ants performing anyway. That, and will they still be able to belt out “Lying Eyes” like they did when I was in college? Maybe I’d better remember the song that way.

Tickets go on sale July 31 if you are a subscriber to the Park’s e-newsletter.

For more information about the concert and tickets, check out The Eagles Land in Piedmont Park

I looked for a picture to insert here, but with all the copy write issues these days, I don’t want someone coming after me!
