Most of your single family neighborhoods, such as Huntley Hills, are just far enough from the Chamblee MARTA station, that you will need to drive to the station. But this short drive, and then a train ride to Midtown or Downtown will give you just enough time to catch up on the news or the latest film project that might be happening nearby.

However, there are several condominium options close to the station, including Lofts at 5300, Eco Lofts and Heritage Lofts, all within walking distance of the station. New apartment developments are under way in the area, including The Olmstead and Parkview on Peachtree, which will provide rental opportunities within a walking distance of the station.

Another great advantage of the MARTA station is the convenience to get to a sporting event at Mercedes Benz Stadium, Phillips Arena or other venues like the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coke and the College Football Hall of Fame. Additionally, those out-of-town trips are made easier with access to Hartsfield Jackson International Airport.

MARTA has put together a video tour of both the Doraville and Chamblee MARTA stations. It’s a tad long, but it has some great information about both stations, parking, and what is around them.

Most of the people I work with are shopping for a single family home, or condominium. And whether you are looking or not, I’m sure you’ve noticed the prices on homes has risen dramatically in the past few years. Well, if you are searching for office space, I think the same thing applies.

So sometimes, you need to look in a different place you may not have thought of.

Chamblee Offers Loft Space Options

As in all real estate, sometimes you have to think “outside the box” as to potential locations. Chamblee has all kinds of things going for it…and you just might be a wise one to take a look! From multiple townhome communities that are under construction, like Townsend Chamblee, will offer great living options. Couple that with new restaurants and shopping ( A new Whole Foods will open in 2017 on Peachtree Blvd at the Peachtree Crossing Shopping Center, across from Lowe’s Home Improvement), this just might be the place for your new office!!

Parkside Partners has done numerous projects in the Chamblee area, and now has two projects up and coming; Trackside will be a new construction building on a vacant MARTA parking lot, at the corner of Peachtree Road and Chamblee Tucker Road. (PICTURED HERE)

What could turn out to be another cool loft option will be the retrofitting of the Whaley Machine Company building at 5553 Peachtree Road. All of these locations are a hop, skip and a jump from the new Assembly Doraville Development and Third Rail Studios in Doraville.

Chamblee Parks – Keswick Park

The City of Chamblee offers residents and visitors alike a variety of parks to enjoy. We will do a feature post for each of the seven parks located in Chamblee. Our first installment is Chamblee Parks – Keswick Park.

Chamblee Parks – Keswick Park

Keswick park has been designed and designated the “active park” of Chamblee….meaning it is designed for major activities whereas the other parks are designed to serve as neighborhood parks.

What Does Keswick Park Offer?

And indeed, the park does have a lot to offer! From picnic tables and picnic shelters to tennis and trails, you can find it all at Keswick Park! The largest of the City of Chamblee parks at 45 acres, there are many active recreation facilities including walking trails, dog park, full size adult softball field, tee-ball field, soccer field, multi-purpose field, two tennis courts and an outdoor basketball court.

There is a walking trail from Keswick Park that connects to the Mid-City District. It starts near the softball field, and leads under Peachtree Blvd and Clairmont Road and comes out on Chamblee-Tucker Road near the entrance to the Walmart shopping center. (NOTE: with the construction of Parkview on Peachtree – a mixed-used residential/retail development, the trail is temporarily closed during this construction process. A cool bridge is being built over the trail that will connect the development, and access to the retail area of Parkview on Peachtree will be available from the trail! April, 2016)

What Special Features are Available at Keswick Park?

Another great feature of Keswick Park is a 3,500 square foot community building that is available to individuals and groups to rent. You can find rental information for the Keswick Park Community Building HERE. The building will accommodate a group of 130 people.

Where IS Keswick Park?

The park is located off of Johnson Ferry Road. If traveling South on Peachtree Blvd, turn right on Johnson Ferry Road. Then turn right on Keswick Drive. This will take you through the Keswick Village neighborhood (older homes) as well as the new Keswick Village homes being built right by the park! There is a parking lot at the Community Center and just past the Community Center you can take a left towards the soccer fields and playground for additional parking.

Huntley Hills Chamblee

It seems almost daily, I’m asked the question, “Thom, where is the next best cool place to live?” Does that mean “up and coming” or “on its way” or WHAT? I can answer that question with two areas…Doraville and Chamblee…and Huntley Hills Chamblee is a great neighborhood to start with!

Located between Peachtree Boulevard (formerly Peachtree Industrial Boulevard) and N. Shallowford and Chamblee-Dunwoody Roads, this neighborhood consists of single family homes that were developed in the 1950’s. The first phase of homes was built up to Plantation Lane, including the pool. Somewhere in the 1960’s other builders came in and finished the subdivision back to North Shallowford. Hence, you will see different styles of homes as different architects designed them. An example of an original brochure is displayed on the right.

Huntley Hills in Chamblee offers commuting convenience in many ways. Numbers surface streets will get you to I-285 for access to Dunwoody and the Perimeter Mall/Business District in Dunwoody and Sandy Springs. Access to Peachtree Boulevard will take you North to Norcross, Peachtree Corners and beyond. And South, to Brookhaven, Buckhead and Midtown. Chamblee offers a MARTA station, so commuters to Downtown or even to the airport can drive (or Uber) to the station and have mass transit as an option.

The entire Chamblee area is seeing some cool retail development that is making the area even more exciting. The recently announced Peachtree Crossing Plaza will feature a Whole Foods Market as an anchor store! Also nearby, the Parkview on Peachtree and the Olmstead are both under construction! These developments are rental apartments, but will feature retail and restaurants.

Located in Assembly Doraville is the new Third Rail Studios and Huntley Hills is a hop, skip and a jump from the studio for crews looking for a place to live!

Home improvement and gardening buffs will be delighted at the Lowe’s Home Improvement, just down Peachtree Boulevard from Huntley Hills.

Huntley Hills has an active neighborhood association and Facebook Page to get information and keep up-to-date on what is happening in the area!

Families looking at the area will find Montgomery or Huntley Hills Elementary, Chamblee Middle and Chamblee Charter High School will be their school cluster.

With all the new housing development around Chamblee (options like new home construction and new townhome developments) along with the nearby redevelopment of Assembly Doraville, Chamblee is an exciting area to consider living in! And Huntley Hills is a great neighborhood to look at!
