Food truck owners seek room to grow

February 21, 2011 by Thom Abbott

Advocates for Atlanta’s burgeoning street food scene say it has the potential to grow five to 10 times its current size and could become an economic driver that puts hundreds of local residents to work.

Johnny Crawford Jcrawford@ajc.com The Yumbii truck serves people in front of the Prominence building on Piedmont Road. The Atlanta Street Food Coalition is appealing for friendlier rules for the mobile businesses.

But to do so, they’ll need a friendlier permitting process, more favorable small business loans and regulations that open up areas in which to operate.

Note: I’ve yet to try this guy! It’s on my list for next month and I’ll do a follow up post. Have you been to the Yumbi Food Truck? Let us know!

    Tuesday, January 18, 2011 – 5:30-8:00pm

    Park Tavern, Midtown Atlanta

    MNA
    MNA

The Midtown Neighbors’ Association (MNA) will hold their Annual Meeting and Board of Director Elections on Tuesday, January 18th at the Park Tavern in Midtown Atlanta.

Traditionally held in April, the Annual meeting has been moved to January as the association changed its fiscal year last year.

The Association will elect 8 Board of Director Members for 2 year terms. (You might recall that I have been a Board Member for the past three years!)

The dinner is $10 for Adults and $5 for children. Non MNA members pay $15.

Midtown Neighbors’ Association was formed in 1969, is run by neighborhood volunteers. MNA is the only body officially recognized by the City of Atlanta government that represents the residents. MNA gives residents a place at the table on issues affecting the residents.

For More Information about MNA, or to join, visit their website, Midtown Neighbors’ Association.

Magical Nights of Lights at Lake Lanier Island Resort

    Happy Holidays!
    Happy Holidays!

The holidays are upon us indeed. Even if it does just seem like we put the decorations away a couple weeks ago! And so the quest begins for that perfect gift for that someone special, and what to do with those holiday relatives that are coming your way.

Enter Magical Nights of Lights at Lake Lanier Island Resort. Now first as a disclaimer, I have to admit I have never made it to this event. Shame on me. But, I’m still going to tell you about it in hopes that if I don’t make this year, you’ll e-mail me pictures and I’ll post them! He He!  But this seven mile drive filled with holiday light displays is sure to put you in the holiday mood. (Some people might need a double dose this year!)  At the end of the tour, you can visit the Holiday Village for a visit with Jolly Old Saint Nick himself, hot chocolate and carnival rides and games!

If you are an adult, but still a kid at heart, and have no kids, (whew) maybe an overnight stay at the Legacy Lodge and Conference Center might be something to consider. Hey, maybe THAT’s the perfect gift you been looking for?

The festive display of lights began November 20th, and runs through December 30th, from 5-10pm Nightly. The cost is $40 per car (Monday-Thursday except December 20-25 a.k.a Holiday rush) and $60 per car Friday and Saturday (weekend rush)

Now, timing is everything, right? Well it just happens that today in my Groupon deal….it’s Magical Nights of Lights at Lake Lanier! Check out this Groupon Offer and I hope you are able to snag this deal of only $29 per car!!!!

For more information about the Magical Nights of Lights at Lake Lanier, or a package to include that overnight getaway at Legacy Lodge, check these links!

Happy Holidays from Thomas Ramon Realty!

Like we need a reason to get out of our office or condo in Midtown Atlanta!

CakeYou might recall we had a lunch program this year, but it was located at the new Plaza at 15th Street. Of course, summer in Atlanta is NOT the time you really want to be out of your office. I certainly stay in unless I’m showing a Buyer a great condo deal in Midtown Atlanta.

PARKatlanta to Meet with Midtown Neighbors

September 11, 2010 by Thom Abbott

PARKatlanta to Meet with Midtown Neighbors!

Midtown Atlanta Parking MetersI’m sure you’ve noticed in Midtown….parking meters are now EVERYWHERE!! And there has been LOTS of confusion about the times you can park, and for how long! If you’ve had issues with this, now is your time to meet with representatives from the City of Atlanta and PARKatlanta!

Please note below they ask you to submit questions in advance for the sake of time. (Or maybe to keep the audience for rioting over this hot issue!!!)

    Dear Midtown Neighbors,

Please join us for a meeting with PARKatlanta, Alex Wan, and city officials to discuss the City’s Parking Program on Wednesday, September 15th at 6:00 pm in the Grady High School cafeteria. Please park in the 8th St. parking lot, and enter the cafeteria through the 8th St. entrance. (Grady HS is at 929 Charles Allen Dr., Atlanta, 30309)

This is an opportunity to ask questions about enforcement, parking signage, and the permitted parking programs/zones for our neighborhood. Since we only have a limited time (1.5 hours) and need to keep this meeting productive, please submit questions or suggested solutions to problems in advance to maria@mariabalais.com (also please copy your question to Traffic@midtownatlanta.org). PARKAtlanta will also have question sheets available at the meeting when you sign in.

    Look forward to seeing you,
    The PARKatlanta Team

    Maria Balais
