Classic Car Commercials – Winning The World Over

October 28, 2012 by Thom Abbott

Classic Car Commercials – Winning The World Over

Classic Car Commercials Kids at The ParkCommercials are an interesting part of our lives. Of course technology has taken advertising to new heights and possibilities with what can be made to seem real, but is all created digitally.

I wished I had got a creative gene and been able to follow a career in advertising, creating jingles and commercials that people would remember. Alas, it was not to be.

But my fondness of the automobile certainly gives me the opportunity to appreciate those that have that gene.

Today’s feature, Winning the World Over by Ford Motor Company is a unique blend of old and new footage of their past commericals and autos with their line up of today.

Enjoy just as I have!

40 Things To Say Before You Die – Forbes

October 27, 2012 by Thom Abbott

Note:  I’m not all about real estate, although it seems it’s all I do 24/7 anymore. But there are times when I find just really cool stuff that I want to share. I hope it makes your visit to MyMidtownMojo.com a bit more interesting.

Of course, if you are just here for the real estate, you might want to jump over this post. And then again, maybe not.

See on Scoop.it – Midtown Atlanta Conversations and Condos

Before you’re sprawled on your deathbed, there are some things you really have to say. They’re not complicated. They’re not poetry. They’re just short sentences with big meaning.

Renters get victimized by scammers who offer low rates on houses they don’t own

October 23, 2012 by Thom Abbott

Don't be A Rental Scam Victim Use a Real Estate BrokerSee on Scoop.it – Midtown Atlanta Conversations and Condos

Now the second largest source of mortgage money in the country — Freddie Mac — is warning about a troubling new wave of post-crash fraud: scammers who illegally rent out its foreclosed and for-sale homes to unsuspecting consumers shopping for houses to lease. The bogus landlords don’t own the properties — Freddie does — and they have no right to offer them to anyone. But they use Craigslist and other online sites to advertise them to prospective tenants.

Typically the rents are tantalizing — say, $1,200 a month for a three-bedroom home in a neighborhood where similar houses command double that — and the terms are straightforward: Pay us a one-month security deposit and one or two months’ rent upfront — always in cash or money order — and we give you the keys, no questions asked. The fraud promoters sometimes change the locks on the front door, remove the lockbox installed by the realty broker marketing the house for Freddie Mac and tell prospects: Oh, and don’t worry about that real estate sign in the front yard offering the house for sale. We tried to sell the house but it didn’t work out, so now we’re renting it.

When Barbara Corcoran Knows You –You’ve “Arrived” In Real Estate!

September 14, 2012 by Thom Abbott

Barbara Corcoran Knows Palmer House PropertiesToday was an awesome day! Just lots of good things happening. It’s days like this for me that must be like the electric car when it gets plugged in…..’ahhhhh…juice!’

I’ll save all the other good things for another post…but this just had to get out!

The President of Palmer House Properties, Kevin Palmer, and our Broker-in-Charge, Tod Von Brinegar just returned from Chicago and a national chamber of commerce meeting, where Kevin had the chance to meet Barbara Corcoran! While they were taking pictures, Barbara said to Kevin, “You use these pictures where ever you can to grow your business.” Kevin thanked her for her kindness, but he said she had probably never hear of this little company in Atlanta, Georgia.

Barbara promptly placed her hand on her hip, and replied, “I saw you in INC Magazine last year!” How awesome is that??

I just thought I would share the story with you all….and say that I’m even more proud to say, Thomas Ramon Realty@Palmer House Properties!

Thank you Kevin and Tom Ellicott, President for creating the greatest real estate company!

Barbara Corcoran Recognizes PalmerHouse Properties at National Conference

PalmerHouse Properties was recognized at the national chamber of commerce conference in Chicago by Barbara Corcoran, real estate entrepreneur, business consultant and television personality best known for her ABC’s Shark Tank show. Ms. Corcoran compared the success and rapid growth of PalmerHouse Properties to her own real estate business, which she started with a $1,000 loan and parlayed it into a five-billion-dollar empire. Ms. Corcoran recently sold her real estate business of 800 agents for $66 million.

Kevin Palmer, CEO & Founder of PalmerHouse Properties, had the rare opportunity to meet with Ms. Corcoran to discuss PalmerHouse Properties’ business strategies, mission and vision. Ms. Corcoran acknowledged that PalmerHouse Properties’ approach – Respect People, Have Fun, Make Money – was a major contributor to the company’s growth of almost 800 real estate professionals in only 7 years. Ms. Corcoran stated that bad times are the best times to move ahead and that was exactly what PalmerHouse Properties did. Kevin Palmer and Tom Ellicott started PalmerHouse Properties at the beginning of the worst real estate market in history; however, as Ms. Corcoran acknowledged, they were able to form a company that put the success and prosperity of its agents first.

Thanks Tom and Kevin…(and Barbara for recognizing us) in creating an enviornment where I can grow my business along with you!

Where Has My Wine Glass Been Today?

September 2, 2012 by Thom Abbott

I blog on another site called Active Rain, and converse with agents from around the country in a Facebook Group that is an invitation only group. We talk some trash. And I mean trash. Some talk about there personal problems, others crazy Buyers or Sellers. Maybe a closing gone bad or the psycho agent that really needs to loosen up.

I’m known for my love of wine. To much in fact. All if it. The wine, The love and the knowledge of the love. A fellow real estate agent made a comment after I commented about a new Buyer that I needed to celebrate. I said I did that LAST night and I need to get some work done. But it kinda of gave me the idea of Where Has My Wine Glass Been Today?

And so, here we are. I won’t have something for this post EVERY DAY…I’m not that bad. But it will test my creativity in finding some interesting spots for my wine glass. And so I share the first.

Just something different. Not a market report, not an activity calendar. Just something fun.

Real Estate on The Road!

June 13, 2012 by Thom Abbott

Real Estate on The RoadIf anyone ever tells you that being self-employed is the best thing since sliced bread…well they have part of it right.

I’m actually in Montana this week on my annual family visit. Unfortunately, due to the distance (and usually the stupid riduclous cost to fly here) I only make it once a year. Everyone says I’m on vacation. Ok, first off, visiting your family and stayin with your Mom where you have no Internet access and sit at the dining room table most of the day is NOT  A VACATION!  Secondly, when you run a one-man show as I do in real estate, it’s hard to just turn off the lights, lock the front door and say “Gone On Vacation.” I know many do, but it’s pretty hard for me!

Internet marketing is working 24/7, just as it should be. I have rental listings that need to be leased. I’ve got closings the end of the month that have admin work to be done on them. Email comes to my phone. And I grew up in a business that you answered the phone, and it DID NOT go to voice mail until they spoke to a live person first. So, I answer my phone when it rings.

It makes for lots of challenges. As I mentioned, my Mom does not have Internet. Last year, a really nice neighbor gave me their wireless password (they lived across the street) and I could visit with my Mom, sit at the dining room table, and still get work done. Those people have since moved away. A new neighbor next door was not so willing to offer up the use of their wireless. So, I’ve been at McDonald’s every morning for 2-3 hours catching up on email, and such. Strangely, today, a rash of emails went out off of my Yahoo account, meaning I think my account got hacked. So, I’ve found another location, and have made a few password changes. That was not easy!! I have so many things set on auto-pilot so it even took me some time to figure out the old passwords so I could change them. But, got that done, and we’ll see how many more emails I get back from people I know.

Real Estate on the Road! Whoopie!
