SalesLoft to add 55 Atlanta Positions

August 8, 2014 by Thom Abbott

SalesLoft to add jobsSalesLoft, a start up company that helps businesses find new customers has received some impressive financial muscle and will add some 55 positions to the company in the next two years.

Tom Noonan,  a serial entrepreneur who sold Internet Security Systems Inc. to IBM Corp. for about $1.6 billion, recently invested $800,000 in SalesLoft.

The company headquarters is located in the Technology Building located at Piedmont Road and The Buckhead Loop. While housing opportunities exist in the area, SalesLoft employees might want to consider Midtown Atlanta as a great living option. Employees could even ride MARTA to the Buckhead Station and stroll through the Terminus development to their office building.

We look forward to helping these future SalesLoft employees find awesome places to live in Midtown Atlanta!

Does Apple Consider The Midtown Mile a “Bad Apple?”

April 15, 2014 by Thom Abbott

apple macbookFor those of us that live, work and play in Midtown Atlanta, you know we have restaurants on every corner….and in between. No shortage of those! (Some of them also seem to come and go before we even get a chance to sample them…i.e. La Tagliatella in Metropolis!)

One of the components that just seems to be missing is shopping. Not the $1000 chair kind of shopping either. Perhaps a gift boutique where you can grab that last minute condo-warming gift your forgot. Or perhaps some new designer undies. Or maybe a new MacBook Pro…..

Rumors have swirled several times in years past about Apple opening a flagship store in Midtown Atlanta. Heavens alive, there is enough technology being used in the Midtown area, and a glance at laptop logos in Starbuck’s at Peachtree and 7th will see plenty of the little apples indeed. There was once talk of the plaza at 999 Peachtree being  turned inside out and an Apple Store Midtown Atlanta going there. It would seem Midtown has once again been overlooked by the fruit of the computer world.

CurbedAtlanta reported that a new store is headed for Cumberland Mall. While Cumberland Mall is physically closer to Midtown than Perimeter Mall, there is an Apple store at Lenox Mall in Buckhead. (Just don’t ever, ever go on a Saturday….Yikes!) And of course, the eco-conscious can take MARTA to Lenox or Perimeter Mall…but you will need 4 wheels to get to Cumberland Mall.

While Cumberland Mall will not confirm the addition of an Apple store, their leasing plans indicate otherwise…

Apple Store Midtown Atlanta NOT

So, why can’t we have an Apple Store Midtown Atlanta?

Is Atlanta Ready (or Willing) For Transit?

March 21, 2014 by Thom Abbott

An informative post, but some what of an editorial one as well!

Atlanta is on the rise again! Cranes are coming out of the ground in Midtown and Buckhead as new apartment towers start to take shape. And yes, even the suburbs are on fire again as homes are being built and excess lot inventory is dropping to even critical levels in some areas!

But, is Atlanta Ready (or Willing) to embrace transit as a way to get to and from work? The first portion of an Atlanta Streetcar will open later this year in Downtown, between the Centennial Olympic Park and the Auburn District. Hopefully more to come in the future? Expansion of the MARTA rail line is doubtful due to the cost. So that leave bust transit, probably the most cost effective. So, will Atlanta embrace it…and will we need or use a Downtown Multi-Modal Transit Terminal like this?

Multi Modal Transit Terminal

Stories about the 119-acre development in the heart of Downtown Atlanta (can you wrap your head around the fact that a major metropolitan area HAS 119 acres in its DOWNTOWN to develop in the first place?) have appeared in both the Atlanta Business Chronicle and Curbed. com. It seems the folks at Curbed.com got access to a video that has since disappeared from any and all of the links referenced in each story. But you can see some more of the plans in the Curbed.com article here.

What do you think? Do you see Atlantan’s headed to Downtown from the burbs on buses?

Flashback Fotos: Aerial Atlanta, the city from above 1905-1988

January 22, 2014 by Thom Abbott

See on Scoop.it – Midtown Atlanta Conversations and Condos

Atlanta’s landscape is ever-changing, and that’s not a recent development. It seems that nothing stays the same for very long in our city and you can see that in these photos taken from above, some from airplanes, some from tall buildings.

Thom Abbott‘s insight:

If you new to Atlanta in the last few years, you might appreciate these photos that show some of the changes Atlanta has gone through over the years. Probably the most dramatic are those in 1961 of the I-285 construction and the then simple clover-leaf that is now Spaghetti Junction! Amazing photos! The red arrow on the lead in picture is the 10th Street Bridge! WOW!

Happy New Year 2014 Midtown Atlanta!

December 31, 2013 by Thom Abbott

champagne bottle glassAh yes…..another year comes to a close.

This is always the time we reflect back on the year and think of what has happened, what we have accomplished, or in some cases, what we did NOT accomplish.

But, with the arrival of the New Year, we somehow get to “wipe the slate clean” and start the year fresh. If you are in any type of job or business, you usually have new goals for the New Year. Indeed, here in real estate and at MyMidtownMojo, we have our goals for the New Year! Helping as many people as we can realize the dream of home ownership! Maybe we will be helping you, or someone you may refer to us.

Whatever your plans are, be safe and careful! If your attending a party at a friends condo, or a Midtown restaurant, remember to have a designated driver to get you home safe and sound. Maybe make a night of it….and get a room at one of the many available hotels in Midtown!

We look forward to seeing you in 2014!!

Happy New Year 2014!

When You’ve Got Your Health, You’ve Got Just About Everything

December 22, 2013 by Thom Abbott

Man sick in bedI’m sure you’ve heard that saying before. “When you’ve got your health, you’ve got just about everything.” It’s true.

I’ve had a touch of the flu, leading into a head/chest cold for the better part of the past week. Pretty much kept me in bed, or on the couch, without much energy or desire to do anything except sleep. And watch TV. And I don’t watch much TV.

I did manage to get out on Friday and help my last buyer of the year close on her new condominium at 1010 Midtown! She’s excited, and we have postponed out celebration until after the holidays! I felt so bad I could not give her a big congratulation hug, but we agreed distance was the best policy!

When you are not feeling, 100%, it just sucks. At least for someone like me that works 7 days a week. Needless to say, I’m behind on everything as Christmas looms a couple days away. But, I know there are many others that are far worse off than I am, and so I really don’t have anything to complain about!

But, when you are feeling on top of the world, and someone around you is not, take a moment to check on them. Do they need anything from the grocery? Pick up something for them? Walk the dog? That gesture will be much appreciated.

Happy Holidays From MyMidtownMojo.com! I’ll be back in the saddle in a day or two with lots of work to get done and information to share!
